Copilot is already sitting in the ribbon of the applications you use all day and the easiest one to leave untouched. This session is for participants who have not yet used Copilot in earnest, or who tried it once and set it aside.
The session opens with orientation and setup, because most disappointing Copilot results trace back to a setting or an access question rather than the prompt. Participants will see where Copilot appears across Microsoft 365, how the work-versus-web distinction changes what it can draw on, and what it means when Copilot says it cannot find a file. From there the session moves through everyday tasks in the applications that matter most: drafting and tightening documents in Word, summarizing long files, analyzing and visualizing data in Excel, and building and reworking slides in PowerPoint.
Equal attention is paid to judgment. Copilot is fast and convenient, but it can misread a spreadsheet, soften an important nuance, or produce a confident summary of a document it only partly understood. Participants will see how to verify figures, check summaries against the source, and think carefully about what belongs in a prompt when the underlying material is confidential, student-related, or otherwise protected.
Participants will leave with a working setup, a short list of tasks Copilot reliably makes faster, and the habit of checking its work before it goes anywhere.
