ChatGPT is the tool most people have already tried once, and the one most often left at surface level. This session is for participants who want to move past asking it questions and put it to work on the tasks that actually fill a week.
The session opens with orientation and settings, because most disappointing results trace back to a setting, a missing piece of context, or an unclear request rather than to the model itself. Participants will see where the settings live, what custom instructions and memory actually change, and what ChatGPT can and cannot see. From there the session moves through everyday work: drafting and tightening documents, summarizing long material, building agendas and checklists, and structuring a request so the first answer is already close to usable. Projects—and Skills, where a workspace has them—are shown as the way to keep recurring work consistent rather than rewriting the same prompt each time.
Equal attention is paid to judgment. ChatGPT is fluent and fast, but it can state something confidently and be wrong, soften a nuance that matters, or misread a file it only partly understood. Participants will see how to verify figures, check summaries against the source, and think carefully about what belongs in a prompt when the underlying material is confidential, student-related, or otherwise protected.
Participants will leave with a working setup, a short list of tasks ChatGPT reliably makes faster, and the habit of checking its work before it goes anywhere.
