You already know how to chat with an AI assistant. This session is about what comes next: handing work to AI agents that plan and execute multi-step tasks on their own, then report back for your review. The mental shift is from prompting to delegating—from “tell me how to do this” to “go do this, and show me when you’re done.”
Through live, instructor-led demonstrations, participants will watch three leading agentic tools in action. Claude Cowork/Code and ChatGPT Codex bring agent capabilities to everyday knowledge work on the desktop—reading and organizing files, synthesizing research, and producing finished documents and spreadsheets without any coding. The common thread is consistent across all three—you define the outcome, the agent plans and carries out the steps, and you stay in control at key checkpoints.
Equal emphasis is placed on judgment. Agents are powerful but imperfect: they can make mistakes, require human review, carry real setup and subscription costs, and raise important data-security and governance questions—especially in a university setting. Participants will leave able to recognize which tasks are good candidates for delegation, which tools fit which jobs, and how to put appropriate guardrails in place before trusting an agent with real work.
